Steaming Days
About
Bancroft Mill's heritage steam days run its two original mill engines in steam for visitors, open 11am to 4pm on selected Sundays.
On steaming days the museum opens from 11am to 4pm, with Bancroft's original 600hp Roberts Cross-Compound engine and the 350hp Smith & Eastwood Tandem Compound from Cross Lane Mill, Bradley, starting at 1pm and running alternately until 3.45pm. Admission is pay on the door by card or cash, with a family ticket available. A café serves hot and cold drinks and cakes, dogs are welcome, and free on-site parking is provided with wheelchair access to most of the site. The museum also opens on most Saturdays between March and November for non-steaming visits, when the Pilling Loom may be seen weaving if volunteers are available.
