Portrait Painting in Oils

A one-day workshop with artist Livvy Stainer teaching intermediate painters how to create an oil portrait using a limited colour palette.

A one-day oil painting workshop for intermediate artists, working from a provided reference photograph to build a portrait using a limited colour palette. Participants map out the head with an underpainting, block in tonal structure, then develop colour, with attention to colour strings, likeness and brushwork. The session runs 10am–4pm in the Long Barn at Meon Springs in the Meon Valley, and attendees bring their own materials and lunch.
