Tradition/Rebellion: Coming-of-Age Style in Kitakyushu, Japan

An exhibition on the elaborate outfits and styling worn by young adults at Kitakyushu's coming-of-age ceremonies.

The show follows eight Kitakyushu residents from their first fittings to the ceremony, exploring how kimono renters, stylists, designers and photographers shape highly individual looks. It includes garments, tactile displays and video interviews. Co-curators are Yamaguchi Souta and Simon Wright.
