Oakeshott Lectures: Christopher Caldwell - Can Europe Be the Same with Different People in It?

Journalist Christopher Caldwell delivers the final Oakeshott Lecture of 2026 on whether Europe can remain the same with different people in it, followed by a conversation with Steven Edginton.

Christopher Caldwell revisits his 2009 book Reflections on the Revolution in Europe two decades on, asking whether Europe can remain the same with different people in it. After the lecture he is joined on stage by journalist Steven Edginton for a public conversation about mass migration, multiculturalism and Islam. The event runs 90 minutes with no interval, doors open at 4:30pm, and latecomers are not admitted.
