The Railway Children

A Christmas staging of E. Nesbit's The Railway Children, adapted by Anna Wheatley, running at East Riding Theatre from 3 to 24 December 2026.

East Riding Theatre stages Anna Wheatley's adaptation of E. Nesbit's classic children's tale, directed by Richard Avery. The story follows siblings Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis, whose father disappears in mysterious circumstances, forcing them to move to a Yorkshire cottage where they befriend the local railway community. The production runs over the Christmas period with evening and matinee performances, including a baby-friendly and a reduced-capacity matinee.
