Masterclass: Clay Surface Manipulation and Texture with Harriet Hellman
About
A one-day hands-on ceramics masterclass with Harriet Hellman exploring clay surface manipulation and texture through stretching, scoring, layering and handbuilding.
Harriet Hellman leads a one-day masterclass at County Hall Pottery focused on manipulating clay surfaces through stretching, scoring, scarring, pulling and layering. The morning begins with an introduction to her practice and demonstrations, followed by practical exercises; the afternoon moves into sustained handbuilding where participants develop their own forms combining marks and textures. The day ends with a group discussion, and selected work can be bisque-fired at the studio. Suitable for intermediate makers with some clay experience; maximum 12 students, materials included.
