Beaver Enclosure Tour

A two-hour guided walk inside the UK's largest beaver enclosure at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, searching for signs of beaver activity.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust leads a two-hour guided tour inside its beaver enclosure at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, home to Nottinghamshire's only beavers. Participants walk through the wetland looking for signs of activity such as tree felling, damming, lodge building and digging, and learn about beaver biology, behaviour and their reintroduction to the site. Beavers are rarely active by day, so the focus is on the signs they leave rather than sightings. The enclosure is around three miles from the visitor centre, so the group meets in the Chainbridge Lane car park, and the route may be uneven and muddy.
