Dead Souls + Alex Cox Q&A

A screening of Alex Cox's Western Dead Souls, followed by a live onstage Q&A with the director.

Alex Cox's Dead Souls is a loose adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's 1842 novel, a frontier fable in which Cox himself plays the drifter Strindler, who travels the West offering to pay for the names of dead Mexican labourers. The meditative Western explores greed and legacy at the borderlands of the American nightmare, with Strindler tangling with the town drunk, cowherds and outlaws. The screening is followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Alex Cox.
