About

A free talk marking Whiteinch Library's centenary, exploring how the First World War shaped the local community the library was built to serve.

Marking the 100th anniversary of Whiteinch Library, this talk looks back at the community the library was built to serve in 1926 and the lasting impact of the First World War. The war delayed the library's opening, and the talk uses stories of local men and families from Whiteinch, Yoker, Partick, Jordanhill and Hyndland to explore the human cost of the conflict on surrounding communities.
