Cyrano De Bergerac

Chester Little Theatre stages Glyn Maxwell's adaptation of Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, a 17th-century romance of love letters, duelling and comedy.

This production presents Glyn Maxwell's version of Edmond Rostand's classic romance, directed by Margaret Bennett. Cyrano, a gifted poet and duelist, believes his large nose bars him from wooing his cousin Roxane, so he secretly supplies love letters to the tongue-tied cadet Christian, whom Roxane loves. The play blends action, comedy and tragedy, with stylised period speaking rather than strict verse. The production contains smoke effects and the sound of cannonfire.
