BBC NOW 2026-27 Season Strauss & Wagner

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales performs Strauss's Four Last Songs and Wagner's Tristan und Isolde in an orchestral arrangement, conducted by Antony Hermus.

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales gives an afternoon concert pairing two late-Romantic masters. Soprano Katharine Dain joins for Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs, his 1948 meditation on love, transience and release. After the interval, Antony Hermus conducts Henk de Vlieger's orchestral synthesis of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, presented as a concert work in its own right.
