The Griffin: A Symbol of the Insole Family ~ Pop Up Exhibition
About
A small pop-up exhibition at Insole Court exploring the griffin as a symbol of the Insole family's identity, status and heritage.
This pop-up exhibition examines the griffin motif found throughout Insole Court, from architectural details and decorative objects to personal possessions. In 1872 James Harvey Insole was granted a coat of arms featuring the mythical creature alongside the family motto Soyez Ferme (Be Steadfast). The display brings together stories, archive discoveries and surviving objects to reveal what the griffin meant to the family who once lived there. The mansion is open daily from 10am to 4pm, though it may occasionally close for private events, so visitors are advised to call ahead.
