Lecture: Lost Houses of Llandaff

An evening lecture by Matthew Williams on Llandaff's vanished 'Gentleman's Residences', featuring fresh research and unseen images of some twenty lost houses.

Matthew Williams, former Curator of Cardiff Castle and an expert on designer William Burges, presents a new lecture on the grand 'Gentleman's Residences' once built in Llandaff by wealthy Cardiff citizens. While some survive, including Insole Court and Rookwood, others have disappeared, and the talk draws on fresh research and many previously unseen images of around twenty lost houses. The hour-long talk reflects Williams's interest in nineteenth- and twentieth-century design.
