Vox Humana & Gregoriana
About
An evening of early sacred music by Vox Humana & Gregoriana, spanning the first and second millennia, performed at the Hospital of St Cross in Winchester.
Vox Humana & Gregoriana present an evening of sacred music tracing the development of the genre from the first millennium into the early years of the second. The programme includes music by St Kassia and St Hildegard, anonymous works, and music by Chilcott-Monk, with pieces drawn from the 10th-century Winchester Troper and 13th-century fragments associated with Fountains Abbey and Worcester Cathedral. The evening also features a brief exploration of the evolution of musical instruments before moving to later motets. The performance is directed by Julien Chilcott-Monk, with soloists Elizabeth Barlow, Wendy Allen and Lucy Loydell.
