Cultivating Connections: Plants can Dance with DJ Brian d’Souza (Auntie Flo)

An evening live performance where DJ Brian d’Souza converts bioelectrical signals from plants and fungi into music via biosonification.

Brian d’Souza (Auntie Flo) performs his 'Plants Can Dance (and Mushrooms Sing)' project, in which living organisms such as plants and fungi are connected to synthesizers so their electronic signals can be converted into sound — a process called biosonification. His work fuses global field recordings with electro-acoustic techniques to create 'acoustic ecologies' exploring the benefits of sound. The event forms part of SVA's Cultivating Connections programme of art, sound and film projects exploring soil culture, run with Zerodig Farm and Curriculum For Life.
