Cultivating Connections: Plants Can Dance with DJ Brian d'Souza (Auntie Flo) Workshop
About
A hands-on workshop where DJ Brian d'Souza (Auntie Flo) turns plants' electrical signals into live ambient music through biosonification.
Sound artist and DJ Brian d'Souza, also known as Auntie Flo, leads this interactive workshop exploring biosonification, in which sensors attached to plants and fungi convert their bioelectric signals into sound via modular synthesizers. Participants can experiment with the equipment to hear how different plants respond to sunlight, touch and watering, while sessions also cover the biology behind plant movements and signals. The event forms part of the Cultivating Connections programme run by SVA with Zerodig Farm and Curriculum For Life, exploring soil culture through creative practice. It is aimed at young people aged 16-25.
