Icons on Ammo Boxes

A free exhibition of 20 religious icons painted by Ukrainian artists on fragments of ammunition boxes from the frontlines, raising funds for medical aid.

Since 2015, Kyiv-based artists Sonya Atlantova, Oleksandr Klymenko and Herman Klymenko have painted Christian icons onto fragments of ammunition boxes brought back from combat zones in the Ukrainian-Russian war, transforming symbols of death into symbols of hope. The Victoria Art Gallery displays 20 of these icons at the top of the staircase and First Floor Rotunda. All works are for sale, with proceeds supporting frontline medical aid in Ukraine.
