Shorts Tunnels, Rochester - Underground WWII Bunker Guided Tour 10am
About
A torchlit guided tour of the derelict WWII underground shelter and factory complex built by Short Brothers beneath Rochester.
Hidden History Tours leads an underground, torchlit walk through the wartime complex the Short Brothers built to shelter and employ thousands of workers during the Second World War. The roughly 2.5-hour route covers about a mile of tunnels and manufacturing galleries, taking in the hospital, control room, decontamination rooms, storerooms and miles of air raid shelter seating. The tour is for able-bodied visitors aged 14 and over, with sturdy shoes and a personal torch required; participants meet at the Short Brothers heritage plaque on the Esplanade.
