About
Author Philip Paris discusses his historical novel A Fire in Their Hearts, set during the 17th-century Covenanter era, at Earlsferry Town Hall.
Bestselling author Philip Paris talks about his latest historical fiction, A Fire in Their Hearts, at Earlsferry Town Hall. The novel is set during the brutal 17th-century civil war between ordinary Scottish Covenanters and monarchs over who heads the Church of Scotland, following childhood sweethearts Violet and Samuel. It brings to life a turbulent, largely forgotten chapter of Scottish history, including the banishment of captured Covenanters to plantations — a fate awaiting Violet, who arrives on a sugar plantation in Barbados in early 1680. Doors open at 6:30pm with a 7pm start, and a welcome whisky, gin or soft drink is included in the ticket price.
