A Blether O Books Book Festival: A Fire in Their Hearts
About
Author Philip Paris gives a talk at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum on the 17th century Scottish Covenanters, inspiration for his book A Fire in Their Hearts.
As part of the A Blether O Books Book Festival, bestselling author Philip Paris gives a talk considering Scotland's forgotten civil war. His book A Fire in Their Hearts was inspired by the 17th century Scottish Covenanters, who fought for decades with various monarchs over control of the Church of Scotland. The talk covers this largely forgotten period, including how captured Covenanters were banished as forced indentured servants to plantations in America or the West Indies. The talk runs from 12.30pm to 1.30pm with doors opening at 12.15pm, and booking via Eventbrite is recommended.
