Varna International Ballet and its live orchestra perform Swan Lake and The Nutcracker with special effects at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.
The critically acclaimed Varna International Ballet, founded in 1947, returns to the UK with a season of two classic ballets accompanied by a live orchestra and enhanced by special effects. Swan Lake, performed on Thursday and Friday evenings, is staged to Tchaikovsky's score with the dual role of Odette/Odile at its heart. The Nutcracker, performed in two Saturday matinee and early-evening shows, is a family-friendly fantasy ballet following a Christmas Eve journey through the Land of Snow. Sergei Bobrov is artistic director and Filippo Dessi is music director and chief conductor.
