How Many Pikachus Would It Take to Power a Lightbulb?
About
A panel discussion with maths communicators exploring the real-world maths of fantasy worlds, followed by after-hours access to the museum.
Dr Tom Crawford (Tom Rocks Maths) is joined by James Grime, Brady Haran (Numberphile) and Bobby Seagull for a one-off launch event examining the maths behind fictional universes such as Pokémon, Star Wars, Marvel, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter — from feeding a Charizard to the Death Star's laser. The 90-minute panel takes place at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, with ticket holders getting exclusive after-hours access to the museum's Main Court afterwards. More speakers are yet to be announced.
