All The Single Ladies (Bury)
About
MaD Theatre Company performs a new dark comedy about a Bury market café owner's lonely hearts night and the strains of the 'Sandwich Generation'.
This dark comedy is set around Cath's café on Bury market, where her weekly 'Single Ladies Tuesday' brings local lonely hearts together in search of romance, including Marilyn, who juggles caring for her demanding mother with her own search for love. The play explores the 'Sandwich Generation' — people caring for both adult children and ailing parents — and provocatively asks whether it is ever acceptable to wish an elderly relative ill. Devised by members of MaD Theatre's Radcliffe Adults drama group, including people with lived experience of alcohol and substance misuse and mental health challenges, the show carries a content warning for strong humour and themes including ageing, dementia, care and race.
