Weekday Wonderings Talk with Dr Cheryl Butler: ‘Incontinent of Her Body’: Women, Society & Morality in Tudor Southampton

Historian Dr Cheryl Butler gives a talk on women, society and morality in Tudor Southampton at Tudor House & Garden.

Part of the Weekday Wonderings initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, this history talk takes place in the Georgian Room at Tudor House & Garden. Dr Cheryl Butler explores women, society and morality in Tudor Southampton, a town whose mayor Knaplock described as a den of adultery and carnal fornication, with a licensed brothel and charities founded from the illicit affairs of prominent citizens. The session runs 11am to 12.30pm and museum admission is included on the day of the talk.
