Iphigenia in Aulis
About
St. Mary's College students stage Euripides' Greek tragedy Iphigenia at Aulis in a contemporary production at the Capstone Theatre.
St. Mary's College, Crosby presents a contemporary staging of Euripides' tragedy about the Greek fleet stranded at Aulis, where Agamemnon must sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia to secure the winds needed to sail for Troy. The production explores family, war, ambition and impossible choices, with a student cast performing in a world where the sun-soaked Greek camp collides with the darkness of the story. The show runs about two hours and carries a content note for mature themes including war, violence and the threatened sacrifice of a child, though no graphic violence is shown.
