Making ‘our houses their own biographers’ 160 years of London’s blue plaques
About
English Heritage historian Susan Skedd explains how London’s blue plaques are nominated, researched and installed, and what they reveal about the city.
Dr Susan Skedd, English Heritage Blue Plaques Historian, traces the scheme from public nominations and selection through research, manufacture and unveiling. The illustrated talk looks at plaques installed since the scheme began in 1867 and how each addition reveals links between notable people and London buildings. The in-person lecture is at The Gallery, Alan Baxter Associates, 75 Cowcross Street; the published lecture time is 18:30–19:30, with refreshments from 18:00. The programme also offers Zoom attendance and welcomes non-members.
