About

Local historian Nick Pollard gives a talk on the history of the Mount Felix estate in Walton-on-Thames, from its notable residents to its First World War hospital role.

Nick Pollard, local historian and curator of Spelthorne Museum, explores the story of Mount Felix, one of Walton-on-Thames' most significant historic estates. The talk covers the house and grounds, links to the builder of the first Walton Bridge, an early cricketing star and a pioneer of orchid cultivation, and connections with filmmaker Cecil Hepworth. It also examines the estate's time as a hospital for wounded New Zealand soldiers during the First World War. The talk lasts an hour in the Abercorn Room at Painshill.
