The Ebor Singers: A Ceremony of Carols

The Ebor Singers perform Britten's A Ceremony of Carols alongside Charpentier's Messe de Minuit pour Noël at St Olave's Church, York.

The Ebor Singers give their annual Christmas performance pairing Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, written during the Second World War, with his early Hymn to the Virgin, composed when he was 16. The programme also includes Charpentier's Messe de Minuit pour Noël, a 1690s Baroque Mass for Midnight Mass built on traditional French Noël melodies. The concert lasts around two hours and marks the 50th anniversary of Britten's death.
