Manchester Collective presents: Black Gold
About
Manchester Collective perform an audiovisual programme of Bach, Tenney, Scott, Guðnadottir and Mombrea's Black Gold at the Howard Assembly Room.
Manchester Collective morph into a bass-heavy ensemble for Black Gold, an evening built around rock, fire and oil. The programme pairs Bach chorales with James Tenney's Glissade, a new 2026 commission from Sasha Scott, Hildur Guðnadottir's From the Other Place, and Luke Mombrea's atmospheric audiovisual work Black Gold, tracing the history of a disastrous oil well fire. Visual artist Nate Mohler's fragmented photographs and textural projections complete the story. Doors open at 7pm with the performance starting at 7.45pm.
