About

A lecture exploring the purpose-built studio houses of the Holland Park Circle in the late 19th century.

The lecture examines the purpose-built studio houses on the edge of London’s Holland Park during the second half of the nineteenth century. It focuses on the houses, particularly the one built by Frederic Leighton, and how they provided insights into the wealth and taste of successful artists of the period. Daniel Robbins, Senior Curator at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, will explore why these artists invested so much in their homes and how they used the spaces.
