About
Local historian Chris Horlock explores Sussex Christmas customs, from the twelve days and seasonal food to the Mummers’ Play.
This talk looks at how Christmas was celebrated in Sussex, including decorations, the Yule log, the Christmas feast and Mummers’ Play traditions. Horlock also recounts unusual local winter stories, including the 1881 snowstorm and a striking snowfall in Burwash in 1939.
