The Witch Finder General Essex Interactive Ghost Walk With Haunting Nights
About
A two-hour interactive ghost walk around Mistley and Manningtree searching for the ghosts of witchfinder Matthew Hopkins, with ghost-hunting methods for ages 16 and over.
Haunting Nights leads a two-hour interactive ghost walk through Mistley and Manningtree, following the story of Matthew Hopkins, the self-proclaimed Witchfinder General who caused the deaths of around 300 women between 1644 and 1647. The walk visits locations linked to Hopkins and his victims, including Mistley ducking pond, the hopping bridge and Seafield Bay, with a short convoy drive to an area of significance (own transport required). Depending on weather and reported activity, participants may try ghost-hunting methods such as Victorian seances, Ouija boards, table tipping and glass moving. The event is for ages 16 and over.
