Witches: Suffolk's Dark Legacy

A guided tour and archivist workshop exploring Suffolk's witch trials and the story of Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins.

This event accompanies Suffolk Archives' major new exhibition on Suffolk's witchcraft accusations, covering some of the 150 people accused and the figure of Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General born in Great Wenham. Visitors will see bewitching items including The Malleus Maleficarum and King James I's Daemonologie, on loan from the British Library. The 2.5-hour session comprises a private guided tour of the exhibition followed by a workshop with one of the archivists.
