About
HUT 9 is a new Welsh drama by Tim Rhys, directed by Chris Durnall, exploring civil liberties through the lens of a 1945 POW escape and a near-future detention centre.
The play begins with the 1945 escape of German prisoners from Island Farm, a true story from Bridgend's past. It then transitions to an imagined near-future where the site has become a grim detention centre, exploring themes of power, extremism, and political repression. Drawing on verbatim local testimonies, the production features a cast including Siwan Morris and Russell Gomer, and is supported by an original live score by Stacey Blythe.
