Field Guide: Future Edition
About
An immersive exhibition of paintings and mixed media by Sam Parsons exploring humanity's relationship with nature, at the Powell-Cotton Museum.
Sam Parsons, a Whitstable painter with a background in zoology and conservation, creates layered, entangled canvases inspired by the animals and plants in the museum's dioramas, incorporating old garments and scrap fabrics to evoke organic forms. The exhibition includes an immersive soundscape drawn from recordings made in Quex Gardens by Community Gardener Rosie Carr with ceramic artist Julia Ellen Lancaster and Sunshine Project participants. Opening hours are Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays 11am-4pm in term time, and Wednesday to Sunday 11am-4pm during school holidays.
