Great Fire of Edinburgh – Evening Historical Talk

An evening talk at the Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage on the 1824 Great Fire of Edinburgh and the legacy of James Braidwood, presented by Dave Farries QFSM.

In 1824, Edinburgh saw the appointment of James Braidwood as the city's first Master of Engines and, weeks later, the devastating Great Fire that swept through the Old Town. This in-person evening talk explores the fire and how the destruction led to innovations that shaped modern firefighting methods across Scotland. It is presented by Dave Farries QFSM and runs from 6pm to 7.30pm.
