Lighthouse Lives: Stories from Scotland's Keepers

A talk by Erin Farley sharing stories from the Northern Lighthouse Board Heritage Trust's oral history project about Scotland's lighthouse keepers.

Erin Farley, fieldworker for the Northern Lighthouse Board Heritage Trust's Oral History Project and editor of the book 'Lighthouse Lives', shares reflections and stories from the project. The talk explores the lives of the keepers, their families and engineers who manned Scotland's lighthouses until automation ended the profession in 1998. It draws on recordings made with those who experienced the transition from manned to automatic lights. The event lasts one hour and is followed by an audience Q&A.
