About

Cellist Matthew Barley leads a quartet of cello, kantele, kora and berimbau in music inspired by dances and lullabies from around the world.

This specially commissioned project brings together a unique quartet of stringed instruments — cello, Finnish kantele, Gambian kora and Brazilian berimbau — to create new soundworlds inspired by dances and lullabies from around the world. The programme features new compositions and 'Designed Improvisations', structured templates that the four virtuosic improvisers play differently each time, with music flowing continuously without pauses for applause. Suitable for ages 12+.
