Sailing The Stars

An immersive celestial light trail across Bristol Dockyards and SS Great Britain, created with artists Squidsoup and inspired by the stars that guided the ship's voyages.

Sailing The Stars transforms the SS Great Britain and its dockyards into a living map of the night sky through five light installations created with artists Squidsoup. Visitors follow constellations that sailors once used for navigation — the Plough, Polaris, Orion, the Southern Cross and a rippling aurora on the Promenade Deck — each with its own visual and audio experience. The trail also shares the true stories of passengers and crew who gazed at these same stars on voyages between Britain and Australia. Entry is included with General Admission or Afternoon Saver tickets, which also cover the full SS Great Britain Experience.
