About

São Paulo Dance Company brings Brazilian contemporary dance to Birmingham.

São Paulo Dance Company’s Brazilian Perspectives is a triple bill by three Brazilian women choreographers. Agora, by Cassi Abranches, explores time and rhythm through Afro-Brazilian percussion and bass. Umbó, by Leilane Teles, draws on ancestry, evocative vocals and Afro-Brazilian traditions; EST.AÇÃO, by Lili de Grammont, uses the image of a train station to explore encounters, relationships, climate change and changing experiences of time. Umbó and EST.AÇÃO are billed as UK and Ireland premieres. Dance Consortium and Birmingham Hippodrome present the performances on 5 and 6 February 2027. The first night includes a post-show Q&A with company members and audio description; the Friday touch-tour time is to be confirmed and must be booked through Ticket Sales. FABRIC’s touch-tour listing repeats 19:30, the performance start; contact Ticket Sales for the tour time. Recommended for ages 14 and above.
