A Doll's House
About
A student production of Ibsen's landmark drama A Doll's House, in which Nora Helmer's secret loan threatens her marriage.
This staging of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House is set in late-nineteenth-century Norway, where Nora and Torvald Helmer's seemingly typical marriage is threatened when Krogstad, a former employee of Torvald's, arrives and blackmails Nora over the illegal loan she secretly took out to save her husband's life. The play is presented as a landmark of proto-feminist theatre, exploring reputation, sacrifice and the laws of marriage. Performances start at 7.30pm and last approximately 2 hours 30 minutes including an interval, with doors opening 30 minutes beforehand.
