Comics Forum 2026

A two-day academic conference at Leeds City Library exploring how comics of all forms engage with the theme of welfare.

Comics Forum 2026 is a conference bringing together expert speakers to discuss how comics engage with the theme of welfare, broadly conceived. The programme spans depictions of welfare concerns from Hogarth's satirical prints to graphic medicine, public health campaigns and the welfare of comics creators themselves. Papers may address any form of comics, including bande dessinée and manga. The event runs in person over two days, from 9am to 4:45pm.
