A Victorian Christmas Experience

A guided tour of the Close plus a 30-minute Victorian Christmas experience with festive tales, tea and scone, and a craft activity.

This December experience begins with the standard one-hour guided tour of The Real Mary King's Close, exploring Edinburgh's hidden history. Afterwards, visitors gather in an underground vaulted room for a 30-minute interactive session with a member of the Chesney family, one of the Close's last residents, who shares tales of Victorian festive traditions and folklore. The visit also includes tea with a scone, jam and clotted cream, and a hands-on Victorian-inspired Christmas craft. The event runs on selected Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in December 2026 and is not suitable for children under five.
