German Wine Scholar Classroom Course
About
An eight-evening classroom certification course on German wine with tastings, covering all regions and ending with a Wine Scholar Guild exam.
The German Wine Scholar course is an in-person certification programme delivered over seven 2.5-hour evening classes plus a one-hour exam evening, running from 7pm to approximately 9:30pm. Sessions cover Germany's wine regions including the Mosel, Ahr, Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Nahe, Pfalz, Baden, Württemberg and Franken, alongside classification systems, grape varieties, winemaking and food pairing, with an average of six wines tasted per class. Students receive a study manual and access to Wine Scholar Guild e-learning modules, and sit a 100-question multiple-choice exam requiring 75% to pass. The certification is awarded by the Wine Scholar Guild and suits enthusiasts as well as those studying WSET Level 3 or 4.
