About
An illustrated talk by Alan Bricknell on the post-war industries that brought new employment to Plymouth, including Clarks, Brown & Sharpe, Ranco Controls and Tecalemit.
This illustrated talk examines how Plymouth attracted new industry after the Second World War. It covers the stories behind firms such as Clarks Shoes, Brown & Sharpe, Ranco Controls and Tecalemit, set against the backdrop of the town clerk's campaign from 1953 to reduce the city's reliance on the dockyard. The talk is part of the Plymouth Proprietary Library's programme of afternoon talks, with seats guaranteed by contacting the library at least 24 hours in advance.
