About

A temporary exhibition at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre marking 200 years since HMS Erebus was launched, displaying artefacts recovered from the Franklin expedition shipwreck.

Marking the 200th anniversary of HMS Erebus's launch at Pembroke Dock, this exhibition displays never-before-seen artefacts loaned from the shipwreck discovered in the Canadian Arctic in 2014. Visitors can step inside a recreated ship's cabin, view a holographic image of the ship's bell, and explore interactive touchscreens covering the Franklin expedition's fate, the ship's polar adaptations and the role of local Inuit in locating the wreck. The display also includes undersea footage of the wreck site and an Antarctic diorama, with quizzes and activities for children and bilingual Welsh and English text. The museum is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm.
