This visit explores the fascinating history of the house, which combines 1930s glamour with wartime secrets. The meticulously restored reception rooms feature fine marble fireplaces, Chinese wallpapers, and murals by Rex Whistler, furnished with some of Sir Philip Sassoon’s original furniture and paintings. The basement has been faithfully recreated with the technical equipment used to listen, record and document the conversations of high-ranking German prisoners-of-war in 1939.
