Ray Harryhausen: Myths in Motion
About
An exhibition of original models, drawings and artworks celebrating stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen, drawn from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation archive.
Created for The Arc and drawn from the archive of The Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, this exhibition marks 45 years since the animator's last film premiered. It features over 70 objects selected with his daughter Vanessa Harryhausen, including original creature models such as the skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts, the Minaton from Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger and Medusa from Clash of the Titans, plus the original Trog displayed for the first time. Harryhausen's detailed production drawings sit alongside paintings and sketches by early influences John Martin, Gustave Dore and Joseph Gandy, on loan from Tate and Southampton City Art Gallery, with tributes from filmmakers including Peter Jackson and Aardman Animations.
