Chicago
About
The award-winning musical Chicago, about Roxie Hart's sensational 1920s murder trial, runs at Newcastle Theatre Royal from 29 March to 3 April 2027.
The classic Kander and Ebb musical returns to Newcastle Theatre Royal's Main Stage for a week of performances. Set in 1920s Chicago, it follows Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her lover and, with the help of a slick criminal lawyer, manipulates the public and media to avoid conviction while rivaling cellmate Velma Kelly for headlines. The score includes show-stoppers such as "All That Jazz", "Cell Block Tango" and "Razzle Dazzle". The show runs 2 hours 20 minutes including an interval, is suitable for ages 10+, and contains strong language, haze and flashing lights; the Saturday 3 April matinee is audio described and captioned with a pre-show touch tour.
