2-day Beginners Hedgelaying Workshop

A two-day practical workshop for beginners learning traditional hedgelaying with hand tools on a working farm in south Shropshire.

CPRE Shropshire runs this two-day beginners' hedgelaying course at a working farm near Bishops Castle as part of its Hedgerow Heroes project. Taught by a professional hedgelayer, it covers the history and benefits of hedgelaying, tool use and maintenance, and hands-on practice in the Midland/Border cross style, including clearing deadwood, selecting and laying pleachers, trimming, staking and binding. Tools are provided and the course suits complete beginners or those refreshing old skills.
